Abby - Amazon or Eskimo?

I have, in the course of Abby's four and a half years on this planet, somehow completely screwed up her inner thermostat.

She is perfectly warm in the rain.

And unbearably cold in heat.

And wind. She really doesn't like the wind. Wind is the only thing that will entice her to wear a sweater (though usually she'll just insist on staying inside).

Otherwise, this girl does not believe in sweaters. Her pre-school teacher has given up. Miss Pat, who has seen over thirty years of kids not wanting sweaters... has given up. Abby is *not* privvy to the cold.

Lucky future husband, huh?

Oh, but wait, future husband, there's something else.

She is never cold... until it's time for bed. At bedtime, whether it is 100 degrees or 50, she wants blankets. And whats more? She wants pants and socks and... SNUGGLING. Not just "phone it in" snuggling either. She wants close up, cuddle up snuggling... UNDER the covers.

Maybe she just wants to rebel. Laugh in the face of society's ideas of acceptable temperature controls.

I'm sorry future son-in-law... I'll make you chocolate chip cookies... or a nice icy soft drink for those snuggly heat waves in your future.

In my house I have hidden all the blankets and down throws and refused to turn off the life sustaining fan at bedtime. So, as rivlets of sweat run down her face, she reluctantly accepts a sheet to ward off the cold of night. I let her keep the socks, as no amount of reasoning or cajoling will sway her from the conviction that socks are essential bedtime attire.

Maybe said future husband will be a sock salesman and they will live happily ever after.
