Giving me a sincere hug, and a sentimental, wistful tone, "I'll always be with you" (thank you Obi-Wan)
Nursing Shannon's pretend broken knee, "Allright, I'm Doctor Abby, the GIRL doctor and this is Doctor Wesley, the BOY doctor."
Watching Prince of Egypt,
a:"Is Moses going to get married?"
me:"Eventually...first he has to find out that he's from a different family and then he gets in trouble and actually he's already met her-"
a: (interrupting)"So... Yes?"
and in the same movie Abby burst out into real tears as Miriam watches baby Moses drift away in his basket. She is inconsolable (it doesn't matter that Moses is safe or grows up strong) until Steve agrees that Moses goes back to his family at the end (this is a compromise - she kept crying that she wanted Moses to be a baby again - wanting his reunion with his family in babyhood, not adulthood).
Jack, almost six weeks old, and Gus, three weeks old, have already had two play dates together. During the one pictured here, Gus's mom left before us (bringing Gus with her). Abby followed them out the door, instantly distraught, "No, don't take Jack, not Jack, Jack! Jack!"
Abby trying to convince Daddy to let her put sparkly blue princess lipstick on him, "No, Daddy. Daddy, listen, don't worry. It's boy lipstick. See? It's not girl lipstick, its just for boys."
Wearing her butterfly towel like a cape, "Whoa, I'm like Little Purple Riding Hood with super wings"
Needs to confirm every night "Mommy, when I wake up in the middleofthenight afraid and there's no Mommy working on the computer in that chair, I can go into your room and sleep in my princess sleeping bag on the floor with you and Daddy and Jack and I'll be safe, right?" (she usually attempts this in one breath but never quite makes it.
